NAIT hosts first ever International Education Week

NAIT students and staff are invited to come together from November 14 to 18 for the first International Education Week. Students can participate in multicultural events filled with opportunities to practice intercultural competence and learn more about NAIT’s diverse campus.

Freya Fu, NAIT International Engagement Coordinator, is very excited about the event.  “[I’m] really hoping to encourage and bring awareness to international education, global perspectives learning, and to be aware of how much of a diverse campus we have at NAIT,” said Fu.

There will be many different events throughout the week, like panel discussions on internationalisation, film screenings, dance workshops and language sessions. Some events are solely for staff, like a workshop on November 16th about standpoint and unconscious bias. Another workshop on  November 17th guides staff through myths and realities of international students. Fu explained that these sessions aim to “encourage staff to incorporate internationalization into their way of their operations and their teaching.”

The event page on Ooks Life explains that these events aim to “get NAIT staff and students excited about the benefits of international education by expanding perspectives, fostering dialogue, and celebrating cultural diversity.” The full list of events is available on the NAIT website.
