We are looking for a Photo Editor who is passionate about photo journalism. It is so important to have engaging visuals to support content in today’s media.

Reporting to the Senior Editor, this position has the following overall responsibilities:
Planning and executing the cover photo for each issue.
Taking photos and/or getting other photographers to provide visual content for each issue.
Quality checking photos before publication.
NAITSA is a non-profit organization that provides services, representation, and leadership to students enrolled in credit and apprenticeship programs in one of Canada’s largest polytechnic institutions.
The NAIT Nugget is a student newspaper that started in 1964, to deliver unique content that is not available from other media sources. Maybe you’re the person who can help us achieve that?

Qualifications:
Applicants must be a current student enrolled at NAIT.
Strong photographic skills.
Knowledge and experience working with cameras and creating different styles of photos.
Comfortable leading and recruiting photographers.
Required Skills:
Self-motivated – Be passionate about photography, to help us be better visually and make the Nugget more entertaining for readers.
Creative – Try new things, because we are open to see how we can creatively engage our audience in meaningful ways.
Reliable – Be consistent, because there are mandatory editor meetings to promote communication and content quality.
Organized – Have great time management skills, because there are lots of moving pieces to this media machine and were looking for a good fit.
Personable – Interacting with a lot of people is a big part of this job.

The Photo Editor is a part-time seasonal position (September through December 2018 and/or January through April 2019) and is an excellent opportunity for students to be formally involved in campus life. It also makes an excellent addition to a future resumé. The salary for this position is $500.00 per month.
